So grateful I survived this!...I think?

I'm not really sure how I survived this long and torturous book but survived it I did! yey!! though I was tempted to rush to ER afterward to make sure that my heart was still beating and my brain still functioning. I was confused if I read the wrong book after seeing and reading all the five star reviews.
The repetitive discussions about the business, type of business, what and where they held the business meetings, who was present and not in the business meetings, who was the PA to what MD of different divisions... the heroines angst and unending text messages to some mysterious person (of which was not revealed whom till almost three quarters of the book) in a desperate attempt to make the readers think and anticipate there's something mysterious, intriguing or some kind of suspenseful moments coming ahead ...Not!!! everything that was said was so redundant and unnecessary that I found myself nodding off (ho hum...yawn, sigh! yawn some more!) with an IV attached through my vein, jeez! It looked promising on the first two or three chapters but it only got a little interesting when the heroine finally met the hero and even that fizzled after they slept together and everything went down hill from then on.
Honestly, I'm almost embarrassed to submit a review on this book, what with the many five star other reviewers so generously gave...however, I feel that it is necessary and just as reasonable for me to write one so as not to mislead other readers and at least get them prepared for an agonizing and boring book they have yet to encounter...truly, I'm feeling a little forgiving and generous for the two stars I gave.

WTF! So dragged out . . .

I have to agree w/ the reviewer Mila that I barely survived. I struggled to make it to the end and mainly due to that I had to know what happened on Christmas Day.
There is so much in this book that is NOT NEEDED! Long draw out details about the business, meetings, emails, MDs, managers, who are at these meetings . . . it goes on & on. I finally realized about 25% thru that it has NOTHING to do with the actual story line of Lilly. Yes, it is her job but the story (the actual guts of why she is the way she is) has zero to do with it. I started to skim and realized I could skim entire (Kindle) pages and not miss much.
The Hero, Lawrence, when he finally shows up . . . draws you in. Why is he so into her? Why does want to help her? WHY!
There is a mystery Texter she engages with that I did enjoy . . . you get early on it is from her past & it is nice to have that bit of something since the "BIG REVEAL" takes FOREVER!
A bit of a spoil . . .
LILLY does finally need some sort of touch and compassion from another and has sex. Now, I do NOT get why we get so much effing details about a business meeting and yet the sex "scene" is like 1 sentence. To me, the sex scenes could have been more detailed and steamy (well, except for a few) and the book would have been so much better.

Should you buy it? I guess . . . it is only 99 cents so it isn't like it is a rip off but, to me, be prepared to annoyed. Or get ready to skim the never ending business affairs.

Great book

I really liked this, it was dark. The characters were complicated and multi dimensional. No sappy love story this, instead you get a complex relationship with acceptance of each others deficiencies and strength. I enjoyed the use of the SMS conversation, initially with an unknown, to develop the readers knowledge of Lilly and her relationship with her sister. The failure to reveal the cause of her break down kept you guessing until the end. I would recommend this to any reader wanting a well developed and interesting romance between real people with real life experiences.
