I waited for this book a long time the wait was worth it.The book is first class.The book covers german police battalions from the invasion of poland,to the start of the stalingrad campaign july 1942.The book is well researched. Footnotes are at the end of the chapter,not at the end of the book(I like that) The other thing that i like is its readability.The german police is a confusing organization some units were wiped out. Others were combined to form other units. Still others were reassigned,some place else.This book really is informative it cuts through all the red tape.You can read this book and understand what is happening in poland and russia.I would give this book 6 stars,but it doesnt go that high. This book is a must to explain the german police involvement in mass murder and the holocaust.

This books covers all the police battalion assigned to the german army during this time period. Covers also temporary formation that had been destroyed or disbanded. After reading this book you get an understanding of the committment that was made by these formation.
