Handy reference

I used this book quite a bit in a 3rd year class working up small animal cases. I'm not a small animal person by any means and this text has some good reference information that helps me out when I'm looking at dogs and cats. I wouldn't pay a fortune for it, but it's a good reference to have in the library.

Excellent, practical guide

I have used this book extensively in my private practice internship, where seeing emergency cases is common. I have used other emergency texts such as Plunkett and Silverstein/Hopper, but this is the only one that tells me what I need to be DOING in a sequential fashion. There are useful formulas and recipes (how to create CRI's, calculate osmolality, make a diluted epinephrine solution, etc.) There is little information on prognosis, client communication, etc, but the meat of what you should be ordering and monitoring for is listed. I plan on bringing this book with me wherever I go.
