Hmmm... On the fence

This had such great plot points and would have been a great book, if it wasn't sooooo long. There was a lot of redundancy that did not add value to the book. I loved the beginning of the book, but at about 45% or so Mabel's character changed. She was an extreme introvert who did a complete 180 and was all of a sudden in command. She had no issues with people and even acted completely opposite when she met Ton. You would have thought she understood him and what he was doing, instead she got mad at him. Mabel cried all the time which was annoying. The sex scenes was good the first time, but after that it was rinse and repeat.
There was other things I questioned, like if there is such a thing as a replicator, why have chefs and seamstresses. There would be no need. If the computer can fly ships no problem, why have pilots. The last thing that really bothered me was how lovey dubey it was. Don't get me wrong I love instalove with mates, but when it happens in the beginning of a 340 page book there is nowhere to go with it. So it was "I love you more than life itself" for most of the book. Oh sorry one more thing, nothing was resolved. The issue that went with the whole book did not get resolved, nor did we go through the delivery of the baby.
The only other concern for other readers is that the sentences are not separated like other books. So it is very difficult to figure out who is talking. You will eventually get it, but it was difficult at first. So all together I gave the book a 3. I will continue the series.

Needs revision!

So far the book is great...but...but! The dialog is one big jumbled mess, paragraphs run on and on.
I realized immediately upon starting chapter one..uh oh, it's one of those the doesn't seperate the characters dialog into seperate paragraphs, or even sentences.
This does require a bit more paying attention as the story doesn't flow as well as it could.

Great Start

I really liked the world building and character development. There were some errors but nothing that seriously detracted from the story. There were a couple issues with how quickly the heroine figured out things that could have made sense had the characters explaining had been using more alien words since full language was explained to take a while because she did not have translator as a child (those scenes needed to be adjusted because she is too bright to be that slow being an experienced anthropologist). Overall very good and entertaining. I hope the next in the series will be released soon. I look forward to reading it to see how the series (and the author) grows. Excellent first book and thanks for the imagination tour.
