Very Informative

If you want to train your own psychiatric service dog, but don't have the money to hire a trainer or the time to be on a waiting list to receive a pre-trained one, this is a great book. It has tips and information on everything you need to know, even things you need to know before you get the dog. It goes over puppies vs. adult dogs, purebred vs. shelter, and much more. It gives step-by-step instruction on how to train your dog everything from the basic "sit" to medical alert for anxiety/panic attacks. The only thing I don't agree with about this book is the negative reinforcement techniques. They suggest you squirt your dog with a water bottle in the face for bad behavior. This is cruel and unnecessary, and can cause fear and aggression, two things you want to avoid in all dogs, especially service dogs. But if you replace squirting your dog for crying with simply ignoring the crying, the crying will stop, as it just a way for the dg to gain attention. And if your dog bites at your hands, just fein pain and leave. Eventually the dog will realize that when he bites, you leave, and he will stop. Except for the negative reinforcement, this is a great book.

Bare basics

This book has good intentions, but fell short of the mark, especially for the price. It covers only bare basics of rudimentary obedience training, and does not do much justice to the tasks a PSD are capable of performing. It only lightly touches on the real skills needed for public access. Most people would be better off buying books on basic obedience training than this one.

Very Dissapointing - Unfortunately

I'm sure it's a lot of hard work to put a book together. This book does not convey training for psychiatric SD's at all. It's basically an obedience book that has very old school (out of date) training techniques in it. It was just a waist for me unfortunately. The other bummer is that I ordered her other book about seizure dogs at the same time and it "Literally was identical content" except for one chapter! This is NOT the book you want if you truly want to learn about service dogs.

Excellent Book...and our book club May read

Do you sometimes feel like you don't quite understand the parables on the Kingdom of Heaven? Or like you're missing the full meaning of the Sermon on the Mount? Have you ever wondered how the disciples would have understood Jesus' actions during the Last Supper?

I've read the Gospels numerous times and read many books about what life was like in Biblical times. Frankly, I didn't realize until now how much I was missing by not understanding the rabbinic teaching styles of the time (among other things). Despite all my study, most of this information was new.

This book opened up my understanding of the Gospels by allowing me to see the deeper, richer meaning that would have been understood all along by the Jewish audiences of Jesus' day.

The book consists of general cultural notes alternated with using that new knowledge to examine specific Gospel passages. However, this book isn't just an intellectual exercise--it'll have you digging into your Bible with new enthusiasm and will deepen your walk with God.

While Christians who have a solid foundational knowledge of the Gospels will probably get the most out of this book, I'd highly recommend it to any Christian who wants a deeper understanding of Christ and his teachings.

I want to share with you a new exciting book I read this past week, I have been SMILING everyday since I started reading it. It's a very good book. The book is 272 pages, with lots of great footnote (rare meat for me) in truth ever page of this book is a real GEM. As I finished the last chapter of the book last evening, I had a vision in my mind of a light wooden church pew in front of me, and on the backside were a bible, a hymnal, and one of these books for people to read. If only every Christian would read it was my thought to the Lord. I believe it would help them SEE You in Your true Jewish setting.

I'm praying this book will impact many many people for the Lord, Jews and Gentile alike.

Now, to tell you the truth I knew almost everything in this book about Rabbi Jesus; I have been teaching this kind of stuff for over 19 years

It was a delight to me to see how well Spangler and Lois laid out everything in this book; really it moved me to tears. I think the Christian world at large has been waiting for this book, yes, I know it has...! So anyone who wants to KNOW their HEBREW Lord Yeshua (Jesus), should read this book.

Mayim Hayim Ministries will give this book a five stars***** rating, and will carry it and use it in our ministry as a great teaching tool. I promise you, you will gain a much deeper understanding of God by seeing Yeshua in His own world. You will not only look through the eyes of a first century Jew reading this book, but of a first century Jew "living during the Second Temple period to boot." Then you will see Jesus "as a Horse of a different color," if you know what I mean by that Movie idiom?

Perfect for gift giving, this hardcover book is packed with over 400 pages of inspiration, wisdom and uplifting stories from best selling author and pastor, Max Lucado. The topical index in the back of the book makes it easy to find whatever subject you are interested in. Topics included are salvation, wealth, busyness, comfort, anger, anxiety and many more. This collection of writings was taken from published works that were previously written and sold by the author. The book is a nice size and is easy to take with you; not too bulky, but not quite "pocket" size. This would make a wonderful gift for anyone you know who could use some encouragement.

Didn't Realize it would be so choppy

I received this book awhile ago and finally got to it. Reading the summary of the book, I was so excited to read it. Everyone brags on Max Lucado's work, so I had to have this book to review. I opened the book and started reading, the book was not laid out well. There are a bunch of quotes from people, then Max Lucado interjects something and then more quotes. Don't get me wrong the quotes and Max's work is wonderful but for me it didn't flow well. I felt like it was too choppy. This is not a book you could sit down and read from cover to cover, this book is more aimed at someone who wants to read on a certain topic and have another view at whatever they are going through. I don't recommend this to anyone wanting a good, page turning book but it is good for someone who needs a deeper understanding of the topics.

The Lucado Inspirational Reader, by Max Lucado is another fantastic Lucado book. Not that I would expect any less. This book is a compilation of his best quotes and anecdotes, found in 25+ of his previous books. There are 27 chapters, and each chapter focuses on a topic.

It's not surprising to discover that this book is truly inspirational ... aren't all Lucado books? Lucado is a phenomenal writer that effortlessly captures the true essence of inspiration and clearly presents in a lovely package. This book is ready to be given as a gift, with a place for you to enter To/From right at the beginning of the book. It's a beautiful, thick book, with thick pages, and hardbound. The title of the book, suits it perfectly, because in fact it is Inspirational. The book's cover is simple, and subdued, yet inviting.

Lucado's words are powerful, his entries are encouraging, and I would highly recommend this book to anyone. It's ideal for gift-giving too.

Very Interesting...

I am from WI so Ed Gein was a household name. I had
read one book before, but this one was MUCH better.
It grabs you from the moment you start it. Even though
you know the ending, it gives you a lot of insight into
Ed Geins world, which was wicked. What you saw on the
outside. A man with no family left, a mother who taught
him women were evil. People made mention of the fact
that he was "weird" but just Eddie Gein. Little did
they know the evil inside his mind and his farmhouse.
Yes, he was mentally ill but I do believe he knew what
he was doing,as he made lampshades etc.
In a way you do feel sorry for him, only a little.
It took me one day to read. Lets just thank he was never
let out....

OUT OF AMERICA'S HEARTLAND...

This is a well-researched book about Ed Gein, the mild mannered, Midwestern psychopath from Plainfield, Wisconsin who, in the nineteen fifties, would shock the nation with his gruesome crimes. Ed Gein would become the basis for the best selling book by Robert Bloch, "Psycho", as well as for the Hitchcock film of the same name. Accounts of Ed Gein's heinous crimes would also enter the consciousness of a young Tobe Hooper who, as an adult, would write and direct the classic cult film, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre".

The author writes a cogent, factual account of the life of Ed Gein and the grisly crimes that shocked the nation at the time of their discovery. It details the hold that Ed's domineering mother had on him, a hold that would manifest itself in unimaginable ways. It is almost hard to believe that this small, inoffensive man could be such a madman, but who but a madman would do what he did? Ed Gein, it was discovered, had turned his small farmhouse into a gruesome charnel house, replete with furnishings adorned with human flesh and bones.

Aficionados of true crime will find this book fascinating, as it is a well-written account of one of the most horrifying and bizarre series of crimes ever to be committed. Eight pages of photographs are included in the book and serve to provide the reader with a brief, visual glimpse into the life of Ed Gein, a man with a secret hobby so depraved that it would shock the entire nation when it came to light. Lovers of true crime accounts will be fascinated by this well researched foray into the life of a seemingly innocuous man from America's heartland who ended up being so deviant from the norm.

You think you've heard them all until...

Either Investigation ID or Bio did a piece on "Eddie" Gein (rhymes with "Fiend") which is why I bought this non-fiction 1987 account of his life & crimes...to see why Norman Bates was based on Wisconsin Eddie is now understandable. Ma had a ginormous destructive effect on young Eddie's psyche and it turned into incomprehensible violence and worse when he came of age in little ol' Plainfield...this is a very objective period piece of the 50's when life as well as most movies were black and white. The author does a great job-covering all the bases- and is objective (which is hard to be in the end). Very much worth a read for those who are fascinated by serial killers; necrophilia; human skin harvesting and the evil that some mothers do...this is a top shelf book in its genre.

It is this technology that has revolutionised the development of the personal computer. Professor Eshraghian has held academic positions around the world, has been granted numerous patents and has co-authored many books. His contributions have recently been further recognised by his appointment as Adjunct Professor at The University of Adelaide.

Great book for Beginners!!!!

I own many engineering books and most of the authors of these books have a hard time getting the point across. However, "Principles of CMOS VLSI Design" by Weste is an excellent book: very comprehensive, very detailed, and very clear in his explanations of the various topics covered in this book. As an undergraduate, I recommend this book to all engineering students. Also, I am currently interning at this engineering company and most of the engineers that work there own this book.

I have read the 1th ed. of this book and reading the 2ed ed. now. This books is so easyly to be understood, even by a foreigner. This book emphasis the principles learned in college. And
introduce more trends about the CMOS technology. After readed the books, let me become a experienced IC designer quickly with layout,circut,subsystem, especially the system concept that general not learned in college.This books is the best choice
for IC design beginner just comming from college.

Great Depth

For those who seek a comprehensive look at CMOS design this is a great text. It goes into excellent depth with regard to basic circuit rules all the way to systems and testing. It's a great way to "dive in" but it does not allow you to "put it down" for any length of time. It needs full attention to get the depth of its text.

A Perfect 5 for Linda Kage!!!

Hold on to your heart…and your panties, ladies. Oren 'TEN' Tenning is going to steal both of them. Ten (Oren), the dirty talking, crude joking, womanizer, man-slut—and lets not forget major jerk—that I so fell in love with through the other Forbidden Men books. It's his turn for this bad boy to be reformed, and Caroline Gamble is just the feisty woman to do it. Caroline is the female version of Ten(Oren), minus the slut part. But when it comes to the dirty talking, smartass mouth,and sarcastic comebacks, she can stand her ground against the biggest jerk she ever met. It's her heart that's having a problem, because Oren Tenning is Caroline's perfect ten of a man. Caroline sees the sexy beautiful man underneath the bad boy persona, and she has fallen hard for the big jerk Oren, but his womanizing has got to go.

Ten has kept a wall of steel around his heart. Love and that “one woman forever BS” that his friends fall for is not going to have him giving up his heart to just one woman. But like the saying goes, 'the harder they are the harder they fall'. And Ten falls like a ton of bricks for Caroline Gamble, the one girl he can't have. Hell, he can't even look at her too long or big brother Noel is going to make sure Ten's man junk never works again.

Ten and Caroline's story is one I have been waiting for, and Linda Kage did not disappoint. I didn't think I could love this big beautiful jerk Ten(Oren) even more than I already did, but I do. But it's not all laughs with Ten and Caroline, and I did shed a few tears over these two broken hearts. I do have to say that I will never think of the state of West Virginia in the same way ever again and I fear if anybody says West Virginia I will more than likely start laughing my behind off at them. Thank you, Linda Kage, for that forever image in my mind, but it is a beautiful image.

It goes without saying that I love Linda Kage's Forbidden Men series and I can't wait till the next book which is going to be Knox's story. Knox Parker is a new character and I can't wait to meet him. I highly recommend Ten and all the Forbidden Men and the ladies that tame these bad boys as a must read.

Caroline and Oren's story will steal your heart.

Oren Tenning is the stereotypical football jock/man-whore. We've learned about his promiscuous ways in prevous Forbidden Men books but this is his time to shine. He’s had a thing for Caroline Gamble since the day he laid eyes on her. She was in a bad way and he knew he had to have her. Unlucky for him, her brother is his best friend and will stop at nothing to keep them apart. After traumatic revelations on his part, he's able to work out some of his demons and go forth with what he truly wants in life.

Caroline Gamble is still recovering from a very traumatic experience that landed her in the custody of her older brother and a new student at Ellamore University. She's making friends and coming out of her shell but she really has one thing - or person - on her mind. Oren Tenning. He's crude, rude and the perfect man for her. She goes out on a limb to get him and the rest is, as they say, history.

The Forbidden Men series is holding steady as my all-time favorite series. Linda Kage keeps her storylines fresh and fun, always. I didn't think one of her stories could top Quinn and Zoey’s in With Every Heartbeat, but then she goes and does it with A Perfect Ten. It's heartfelt and hilarious and I had a few cries in there too. The perfect blend of emotions for a new adult romance, in my opinion. Caroline's movie knowledge was amazing and her filthy mind keeps right up with Ten's. Loved this and cannot wait to meet Knox Parker in Worthless!

Horrible female character!!!

I was so looking forward to this book. From the previous books I couldn't wait to read about Caroline and Ten. I was somewhat disappointed. I just found it extremely hard to be in Caroline's head. I new right at the beginning when she went to Oren's apartment and had sex with him in the dark, because he wouldn't sleep with her other wise I was in trouble. I mean what girl has so little respect for herself that she would have sex with a guy even though she knows he has no idea who he's sleeping with. It seemed so desperate and immature. It was strange for me. I thought with all she had been through, maybe she would have been more mature. As far as Ten was concerned he was exactly like I expected. What I didn't expect was for her to chase someone who repeatedly slept with random bimbos in front of her. I really just didn't like this book. I will say again the writing is great, just not the story.
