One of Neels' best--a cozy winter read!

I have read almost all of Betty Neel's books and this is one of my favorites. The plot isn't deep, but the characterization is excellent, and the romance is satisfying. Yes, this is an "old-fashioned" book in that the main characters don't lust after each other nor have pre-marital sex. It is a gentle, thoughtful romance. My mom, dad, sister, and I have all read this book several times. One of the sayings that has become a joke in our family comes from the part where the old family retainer tells the couple that the "wind took the electricity," and later, we all wonder if the wind brought it back! It is the well-developed characters that make this book a classic. It is variation on the snowed-in house party theme, only in this case the characters were accidentally marooned together in a storm, and have to make do. Julia, the heroine, is an intelligent, independent nurse, and the hero is her forceful counterpart. I do wish the that the supposed "other woman" would be exposed for what she is sooner, but even with that frustration, it is still a very enjoyable book. I am glad that Harlequin re-printed it, since the old copies out there were wearing out. Now you can get a good used copy at a very reasonable price.

Betty Neels at her sentimental best!

Oh, I loved this book. Julia is a beautiful nurse who is kind and sensible, but also not afraid to speak her mind. Our hero, Ivo, is a doctor who meets Julia in the midst of a snow storm and both he and she fall for each other while they are housebound. Once the snow stops, Ivo employs Julia to work in Holland where she soon discovers that his heart may be attached to another. But our hero is unceasingly drawn to Julia and by the end of the book, declares himself to her in a way that leaves no room for doubt. The ending is blissful! This is a highly recommended love story for any Betty Neel fan.

Much better books on the subject

I had to get this book for content for a District of Columbia licensing exam. Amazing that they required such an outdated text. Even a cursory review of just the pictures is like looking at a textbook from the 1980s. If this book wasn't required I would never have purchased it.

Do yourself a favor and find another book for modalities. I know a few great ones, but this isn't the place for plugging other authors.

2 stars for info that is fairly timely, but the approach, the illustrations, and the approach seem very outdated.

Should be required reading for anyone who plans to make templates for others

Saving a PowerPoint file as a template is easy. That's where the "easy" stops, though.

Creating templates that work well across different versions of PowerPoint, on Mac and PC and even between different computers running the same software is another matter altogether. It can be a complex puzzle, but with the right knowledge, you can solve it.

Where do you find that knowledge? This book. Laid out logically, simply, clearly and beautifully.

Where else can you find the same knowledge? Nowhere.

If you're creating templates for other people to use, this is your bible. The gold standard. So good that I bought the Kindle version so I could have it handy on my PC/iPad/iPhone when I'm away from the office. (The Kindle version, by the way, is one of the best examples of a computer book I've ever seen on the Kindle).

Terrific For A Beginner; Not So Much for Intermediate and Above Guitarists.

The cover clearly says "Easy Guitar," and unlike some that say "Easy" only in the sense that it's easy if you're Eric Clapton, these arrangements are very easy and clearly designed for the beginning guitarist to sound good right out of the gate.

The book contains a large selection of Christmas music, both secular and religious. Some come with TAB, and others have merely the melody and chord accompaniment. So for pickers or simple strummers, there's something for everyone. Old favorites and some newer songs are included. The only caveat is that most are keyed in either C or G Major, so a long set from this book will have a certain sameness of sound.

But for a beginner around the holidays, this book is a treasure trove of favorites, classics, and an awful lot of fun. (Most of the lyrics are included as well for those inevitable sing-alongs.)

Worth the price, and certainly a great addition to any aspiring guitarist's collection.

Excellent Christmas book for guitarists of all levels.

This book is great. I am a novice player, and I spend many hours each Christmas season playing the dozens of songs. Almost every song I know is in the book, plus many I don't know. It is good for me, but also for much more capable players.

Beginners and advanced guitarists alike will find this book useful to learn some Christmas favorites. Friends and family can hold the book and sing along while you play! You really can make some memories during the holidays with this book. I'm glad that I bought it, and I suggest it to other guitarists looking for a Christmas book.
